The vines in the Hawke’s Bay Region & Vineyards

Hawke's Bay is one of the hottest and driest regions of New Zealand, which has one of the largest wines’ producers, especially reds wines: cabernet sauvignon, merlot and Syrah - but also some white wines. It is the first step on the New Zealand wines road.

Hawke’s Bay wine region is the second country with the size and a long tradition of table wine, vine grows there for over 100 years.

Located to the east of North Island, they two main cities are Napier and Hastings.

Hawke’s Bay is a popular destination for all those varieties that love the sun, as it benefits the greatest sunshine per year, New Zealand Riviera, with a sunny climate and soil of pebbles.

It benefits also many vineyards that numbers are 51, with nearly 398 references.

Among which were found the grapes: Arneis, Blanc-de-Blanc, Blush, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet-Sauvignon-Rosé, Chardonnay, Chenin-Blanc, Gamay-Red, Gewürztraminer, Malbec, Merlot, Merlot Rosé, Montepulciano, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Rosé, Riesling, Sangiovèse-Red, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Syrah, Syrah Rosé, Tempranillo, Verdelho, Viognier, Zinfandel.

As well us found some wines from traditional method and assemblies Red and white wines.

The varied soils of this region, providing a unique character, producing a wide variety of wines, with and red varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, and for White Wines the: Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Pinot Grigio. As well some blended wines White and Red.

In Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay is king, powerful, and rich in the red varieties Cabernet and Merlot, as well it’s acclimated to the area.

Syrah growing has well, grape known in France in region of Côtes du Rhône, dos not to envy the French wines.

Reds wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the rich and with a powerful wine, white wines: Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, are among the best in New Zealand.

Hawke’s Bay

The region is located in the middle of the east coast to the North Island and bears the old name for what is now a large semi-circular bay which extends over 100 km from northeast to southwest Peninsula from Mahia to Cape Kidnappers.

The region includes, coastal areas, plains and hills in the north and center; the plains of Wairoa in north, fertile Heretaunga Plains around Hastings in south, and within rather rough up chains of mountains Kaweka and Ruahine.

Hawhe’s Bay welcomes the Maori party the largest in the country. You will also discover the farmer's market, with local and artisanal products.

They Parks of Ruahine and Kaweka are an invitation to walk in forest, and on coast with Cape Kidnappers, we Keppel Cap Sizun in Brittany (France) with these gannets.

This bay offers all kinds of accommodation for tourism, and some wineries have guest rooms, providing the perfect setting for a holiday.

The region includes they districts of Wairoa, Hastings, Central Hawke's Bay, and a small part of Taupo and Rangitikei.

Cabernet Sauvignon is a black grape of French origin. Grape is known worldwide it has become one of the most common grape varieties in the world. It grows in most wine producing countries in a variety of climates ranging from Canada to Lebanon. He owes his international recognition to Bordeaux vineyard, where it is often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

This variety has spread from France to Europe and then in all new wine regions such as California, Australia and Chile. During the twentieth century, it was the most planted grape in the world until it is surpassed by Merlot in 1990.

Despite the globalization of culture, this grape is a relatively new variety. It is the product of miscegenation between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc made by chance in the seventeenth century. . .

La vigne dans la Région de Hawke s Bay

La Baie d'Hawkes est une des régions les plus chaudes et les plus sèches de Nouvelle-Zélande, ce qui en a fait une des plus grandes productrices de vins, notamment pour les rouges – cabernet sauvignon, merlot et syrah – mais aussi quelques blancs étonnants. Elle constitue la première étape sur la route des vins de Nouvelle Zélande.

Hawkes Bay est la seconde région viticole du pays par la taille, d’une longue tradition de vins de table la vigne y pousse depuis plus de 100 ans.

Située à l’Est de l’île du Nord, ces deux villes principales sont Napier et Hastings.

Hawkes Bay est une région de prédilection pour toutes ces variétés qui aiment le soleil, car elle profite du plus grand ensoleillement à l’année, de la Riviera de Nouvelle Zélande, avec un climat ensoleillé et des sols de galets.

Elle bénéficie elle aussi d’un grand nombre de vignobles qui sont aux nombres de 51, pour près de 318 références

Ainsi que des vins de méthode traditionnelle, et des Vins d’assemblages blanc et Rouge

Les sols très variés de cette région, apporte un caractère unique, productrice d’une grande diversité de vins, avec des cépages rouges comme les Cabernet Sauvignon, merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, et pour les Vins Blanc les : Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sémillon, Gewürztraminer, Viognier, Pinot Grigio. Ainsi que des vins d’assemblages blanc et Rouge.

Dans la région de Hawkes Bay, Le Chardonnay est Roi, puissant, et riche, dans les cépages rouges les Cabernets et le Merlot, ce sont aussi bien acclimatés à la région.

La Syrah en pleine expansion, cépage connu en France dans la région des Côtes-du-rhône, n’a pas grand-chose à envier aux vins Français.

Les rouges issus de cabernet sauvignon et de merlots sont des vins riches et puissants, pour les vins blancs, les Sauvignons Blanc et Viogniers, sont parmi les meilleurs de Nouvelle Zélande

Hawkes Bay

La région est située au milieu de la côte est de l'île du Nord et porte l'ancien nom de ce qui est aujourd’hui, une grande baie semi-circulaire s'étendant sur 100 km du nord-est au sud-ouest, de la péninsule de Mahia au cap Kidnappers.

La région inclut les terres côtières, les plaines et les collines, au nord et au centre, les plaines de la Wairoa au nord, les plaines fertiles Heretaunga au sud autour de Hastings, et l'intérieur plutôt accidenté jusqu'aux chaînes des monts Kaweka et Ruahine.

Hawkes Bay accueilles, la fête maorie la plus grande du pays. Vous découvrirez aussi le marché paysan, avec ces produits locaux et artisanal.

Les Parks de Ruahine et Kaweka, sont une invitation à la promenade en forêt, sur la cote le Cap Kidnappers nous rappelle le Cap Sizun en Bretagne (France) avec ces fous-de-Bassan.

Cette baie offre toutes sortes d’hébergements pour le tourisme, et certains domaines viticoles ont des chambres d’hôtes, offrant le cadre idéal pour un séjour.
