Le Michigan est un État du Midwest des États-Unis, entouré en parti par les Grands Lacs qui forment une frontière naturelle avec la province canadienne de l'Ontario. Il est entouré au nord par le lac Supérieur, à l'ouest par le lac Michigan et le Wisconsin, à l'est par le lac Huron et le lac Érié et au sud par l'Indiana et l'Ohio. Avec Lansing pour capitale et une superficie de 250 941 km2.

Son nom lui vient des Natives Américain qui occupait la région à l’origine qui signifie grande eau du mot ojibwé Mishigamaw. Il est surnommé l’état des Grands Laces

Son climat est un climat continental humide sans saison sèche influencé par les Grands Lacs. Avec des hivers généralement froids pour des étés chauds et humides ou les températures minimales descendent sous les -10 °C et peuvent monter à 32 °C.

Avec Leelanau Peninsula, et sont microclimats frais vous découvrirez la cuisine locale qui accompagne parfaitement les vins de cette petite région ou se niche près de 25 établissements vinicoles ou une sélection de raisins bien adapté à son climat comme les : Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir et Cabernet Franc.

La région surnommée l’« Up North

Aujourd’hui le Michigan tire parti de ses immenses ressources naturelles et de son patrimoine historique au profit du tourisme estival et hivernal, avec ses milliers de pistes de motoneige ou de traîneaux à chiens.

Avec ces Lacs et ses 5000 km de côtes le Michigan offre avec les unes multitudes d’opportunités pour des escapades le temps d’un Weekend d’une journée ou tout simplement une semaine de vacance.

Le littoral en effet offre d’innombrables promenades avec ses 149 phares, des iles par centaines permutants des journées en bateau ou la découverte de ces innombrables petits ports le long de ces côtes vous donnant l’occasion de jouer aux chercheurs de trésor ou tout simplement de profiter des plages et de ces immenses dunes de sable.

En quittant la côte des grands lacs on découvre de grandes et larges forêts parsemées de plusieurs milliers de lacs autour desquels de nombreux villages pittoresques se sont installés.

Plus au nord sur la frontière canadienne ne manquez pas de venir voir les écluses de Soo Locks à Sault Sainte-Marie qui laissent passer les gigantesques cargos océaniques, cette région est également un refuge pour les animaux sauvages et les amateurs de tourismes verts qui viennent profiter des innombrables chutes d’eaux.

Sans oubliez le village de Holland situé sur la côte du lac Michigan, fût créé par une communauté religieuse venue des Pays-Bas, ce village ou l’on retrouve les origines néerlandaises avec une architecture coloniale accompagné par le fameux moulin de Holland et les fabriquant de sabots un endroit agréable ou il fait bon de si promener le temps d’un weekend.

Plus au sud sur la frontière la frontière de l’Indiana vous découvrirez une suite de petit ports (petites station balnéaire) qui vous permettent de se baigner, faire du bateau, aller à la pêche, manger dans un des restaurants avec une vue sur les plages

Cette région du Sud, est bien plus agricole, mais en dehors de ces petites villes elle est aussi plus urbanisée que le Nord c’est là que se trouve la ville de Détroit, 6e métropole américaine ou il bon de visitez le Detroit Institute of Art à ne pas manquer, ou encore le Motown Historical Museum, témoin de la soul music…

Gewurztraminer

Gewurztraminer is a grape variety with pink grain, from Traminers family. It is also sometimes called aromatic savagnin rose.

It is coming from the pink Savagnin and for good reason: the latter grape variety is more aromatic mutation.

The first selection of this aromatic form occurred in Alsace. From the nineteenth century, and it was appointed traminer, then it crossed the Rhine to conquer Germany and Austria. . . .

Müller Thurgau

Müller-Thurgau is a white wine grape, also widely known as the Rivaner grape. He is originally from Switzerland and Franconia. Its grape gives simple and accessible wine to drink young.

Müller-Thurgau grape comes from a seedling, probably Riesling and Madeleine Angevine. Genetic testing has established that this is a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Angevine.

It is found in Germany, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, France, Moldova. New Zealand, United States, Australia. . .

Pinot Noir

Pinot is likely from the North East of France and known very long time in Burgundy, as shown, for example, the genetic variability of this grape. It could come from wild vines selected and cultivated at the time of Romains arrival, it would then spread throughout Europe by the latter under the name Allobrogica. In the Middle Ages, its history is intertwined with that of monasteries which contributed to the fame of Burgundy vineyards. Each town is jealous of its variety of Pinot, creating mutations over a wide family’s variety During its release, it has been crossed with other varieties giving a multitude of varieties that are still currently grown. We find it now in Germanic influence regions (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Alsace, Romania, etc.) dates from this period. Its introduction in the new wine countries (Australia, United States ...) is related to the Germanic migration in these countries.

In France, it has established itself in the Northeast, in Burgundy, Alsace and Champagne, and in addition in the Jura vineyards. . .
