Pinot Gris

Pinot Gris (Tokay long called) Pinot Gris is a gray grape with a generous character that develops opulence and flavor characteristics. Bodied, round and with a long finish, it has complex aromas of sometimes slightly smoked underbrush or floral.

Certainly originated from Burgundy region it is a gray variation of Pinot Noir which it is distinguished only by the color of its berries. It is mainly produced in Germany under the name Ruländer, Grauer Mönch or Grauburgunder.  Today we find it everywhere on Glob. . .

Pinot Noir

Pinot is likely from the North East of France and known very long time in Burgundy, as shown, for example, the genetic variability of this grape. It could come from wild vines selected and cultivated at the time of Romains arrival, it would then spread throughout Europe by the latter under the name Allobrogica. In the Middle Ages, its history is intertwined with that of monasteries which contributed to the fame of Burgundy vineyards. Each town is jealous of its variety of Pinot, creating mutations over a wide families variety During its release, it has been crossed with other varieties giving a multitude of varieties that are still currently grown. We find it now in Germanic influence regions (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Alsace, Romania, etc.) dates from this period. Its introduction in the new wine countries (Australia, United States ...) is related to the Germanic migration in these countries.

In France, it has established itself in the Northeast, in Burgundy, Alsace and Champagne, and in addition in the Jura vineyards. . .

Concord grape

The Concord grape is a black grape cultivar derived from the Vitis labrusca that are used as table grapes, wine grapes and juice grapes. They are often used to make grape jelly. The grape is sometimes used to make wine. Traditionally, most commercially produced Concord wines have been finished sweet, but dry versions are possible.

The skin of a Concord grape is typically dark blue or purple, Concord grapes have large seeds and are highly aromatic.

Frontenac

Frontenac is an hybrid grape vine that is a result of research and cross-breeding very cold hardy selection of Vitis riparia by the University of Minnesota. It was released in 1996.

Frontenac gris is a white wine version of Frontenac, introduced in 2003. It started as a single bud mutation of Frontenac, yielding gray, fruit and amber-colored juice. Frontenac blanc will be introduced in 2012 from white fruited mutations found in both Frontenac and Frontenac gris vines in Minnesota and Canada

Frontenac has been used for the production of dry red wines, rose, as well as for fortified wine in the style of port. . .

The Marquette grape variety

   Is a hybrid variety of different species of Vitis, and Ravat 262. with origin of the Frontenac and Pinot noir. On the wine plan, the grape Marquette is remarkable. Resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew and black rot.

The high sugar content and the moderate acidity of Marquette make it very manageable in the vineyard. The finished wines are complex, with a beautiful ruby color, pronounced tannins, both on the nose and on the palate. As a red wine, Marquette represents a new standard in winemaking and oenology that is resistant to cold. . .
