Colombard

Colombard is a grape varieties hybrid is with the Gouais and Chenin Blanc.

It come from Charente Region , to the north of Cognac region. It's part from the beginning of the grapes used for cognac distillation. It is to introduced in the vineyards of Bordeaux and Armagnac.

Giving wines less harsh and more alcoholic than the folle blanche, its culture has been favored by the Dutch marketong> for the export of dry white wines, with Folle Blanche.

For twenty years, its production is oriented towards the production of dry country wines and very aromatic. Côtes de Gascogne wine and Charentais or in the Bordeaux region , Côtes de Bourg, Crémant de Bordeaux, Entre-deux-Mers.

We find it to in California, is dethroned by Chardonnay, now also in South Africa, Australia and Israel. . .
