Brunello grapes

 

The dark brown colored Brunello grape is a cross between Calabrese Montenuovo and Ciliegiolo which is cultivated in the Montalcino region. Brunello synonymous with red wines from Tuscany

It was in 1879 that it was discovered that Brunello and Sangiovese were in fact the same grape variety not to be confused with the commune of Brunello in the Lombardy region of Italy.

It was cultivated in nearly one in ten vineyards in Italy and is an essential part of some of the best wines produced in Italy. also cultivated in the Patrimonio AOC (Nielluccio) regions of Corsica, the Mendoza region in Argentina and the California and Washington regions in the United States, Romania, Australia and Chile. . .
