Vines in Marlborough Region & Vineyards  New Zealand

 

Marlborough is a region of New Zealand located in the northeast corner of the South Island. It is known for its dry climate, the scenery of Marlborough Sound, and vineyards.

The first vines were planted in Marlborough in 1973, this wine region has become to be the largest wine region in New Zealand in just from the last 20 years, it represents more than half of the plantings.

Warm, sunny days with cold nights give, today a quality for white wines, with fresh flavors, like Sauvignon Blanc that is worldwide recognized. That wine is fresh with a perfect balance.

 

 

It benefits also many vineyards that numbers are 83, with nearly 401 references.

Among which were found the grapes: Blanc-de-Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Lambrusco-Red, Malbec, Merlot, Montepulciano, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Rosé, Pinot-Gris-Rosé, Pinotage, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Syrah, Tempranillo, Verdelho, Viognier.

As well us found some wines from traditional method and assemblies Red and white wines

 

There is also lots of Chardonnay, drier and lighter than their cousin from Hawkes Bay style, there are also wines from Pinot Noir, but also Riesling with a high quality at affordable prices.

Less well known, the traditional method, which could worry some Champenois winemakers, both in quality and price, undoubtedly a necessary part of the South Island.

 

The fertile soils are composed of gravel, the climate is temperate warm and dry, and gives to this region an ideal climate conditions for wine lovers.

The climatic condition is hot and cold, between days and nights. That gives conditions for slow ripening grapes, allowing winemakers to bring unique flavors and aromas.

Thousands of acres of vineyards produce different wines, such as Pinot Noir, Lambrusco-Red, Syrah, Montepulciano, Malbec, Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines.

 

And: Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Viognier, Verdelho, Semillon for whites . . .
