Muscat, Moscato in Italy, Moscatel in Spain and is the name of one of the oldest and most widespread grapes families in the world. The grapes we know today as Muscat.

The Muscat family of grapes include over 200 grapes varieties belonging to the Vitis vinifera species that have been used in wine productions and as raisin and table grapes around the globe for many centuries.

The origins of Muscat grapes date ancestors of the varieties back to the ancient Egyptians and Persians of early antiquity (c. 3000-1000 BCE) . . .
